A youth support group for ages 12-15 that creates space to explore 2SLGBTQ+ identities using movement and arts.
Drawing from dance movement therapy, we will use games and creative movement to explore identity in an embodied way. No dance or movement experience is needed. All minds, bodies, and identities are welcome.

About the facilitator:

Jayeden (she/they) is a Queer neurodivergent Femme, and a non-Indigenous treaty person living in Toronto Ontario. Originally hailing from Collingwood Ontario, Jayeden has worked with youth for over a decade as a circus coach and community facilitator. In this work, they have witnessed and lived the profound impact that movement and community can have on supporting people.
Jayeden runs Rainbow Circus, a social circus program focused on creating Queer and Trans centered, and disability-inclusive movement spaces. She has an honours BA from the University of Toronto and is currently in her second year of studying toward a diploma in dance movement therapy from Dance Therapy Training Aotearoa. (The facilitator is still a student and will be under supervision while running this group.)
About dance movement therapy:
Dance movement therapy (DMT) is based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, and emotions are present in the body. With this in mind, DMT offers a space to process these emotions using movement and expression in the presence of a compassionate witness or group. Despite the name, no dance experience is required or expected. Participants are invited to move in a way that honours their natural rhythms and movement inclinations while also trying on new body shapes and exploring what different rhythms feel like.
