We are grateful to be able to live, create, and gather in the land that many now know as Toronto.
We acknowledge these lands and waters as the traditional territories and trading grounds of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit River, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.
As non-indigenous treaty people we work to honour the Dish With One Spoon covenant, taking only what we need, respecting and caring for the environment, and considering future generations in our present work.
As a business run by a non-indigenous treaty person, we have work to do in moving towards a more right relationship with the land and her historical and contemporary residents. My hope for land acknowledgements is that they contribute to an ongoing conversation and encourage people to research the historical and contemporary circumstances of the communities that they live in.
